Nothing phone has released the most amazing phone in history ever. Nothing has launched CMF phone 1, this is the subbrand of nothing that has released the cheap phone into the market. The phone just costs Rs.15K which is a superb budget phone. For the price which they have released and the features of the phone is very much impressive. Every time we see nothing, new mobile phone ideas and designs come up. Now also the name of the phone itself CMF is color, material, and finish. They have justified the name of the phone.
The CMF sub-brand of nothing has not just launched a mobile phone, but they have launched an entire ecosystem along with the phone. CMF has launched a watch and buds for the phone. The ecosystem also includes a card wallet, stand, and multiple color back panels. The back panels can be changed easily, but we need to buy other back panels rather than the phone ones.
And all the ecosystems that they have designed don’t appear in any budget smartphones. Also, the accessories available are cheap when compared to other premium brands. Also, the accessories are made of plastic which makes them cheaper.
By the first look and knowing about the phone it feels like it has been designed in India. Because of all the “JUGAAD” stuff we do to keep up with the things are see on these phones. Check out the crazy cheap JUGAADs they have done.
Let’s get into the phone:
The display of the phone supports HDR 10+ content made up of AMOLED, also the display has an inbuilt optical fingerprint scanner. The display has good brightness among the budget which is 2000 nits peak brightness. I probably like the brightness of the phone, but don’t expect it as same with no phone. One needs to concentrate on looking at the display when they are under the sun.
The bezels of the phone are quite thicker than other nothing phones. Particularly the bottom of the phone. But in this budget, they have provided maximum brand value to it.
The CMF has a 5000mAh battery, and the chip of the phone is just a 4nm process which consumes the minimum power to give good performance. The default dark mode makes all app icons into black icons which saves battery. As we know AMOLED displays dead pixels at the place of a black screen which saves the power used for the black color.
The battery backup of the phone seems to be amazing because of the software features provided in it. I think the phone can easily handle a complete day without charge sometimes it may be more than one full day.
The CMF is powered by a 33W charger.
Software:
As we all know, nothing software is always an amazing thing. The phone runs on nothing OS 2.6 on Android 14. The software is clean, doesn’t interfere, and feels like stock Android. We can customize the whole phone and widgets according to us. I think the widgets they have provided help us in the productivity of the work.
The wallpaper of the phone has the option of AI-generated images with text. The software comes with 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security updates.
The phone also has gaming mode which can be accessed only with one switch while playing a game.
Hardware:
The base variant of the nothing CMF consists of 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The higher-end phone has 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage. The phone has access to expand the storage up to 2TB using an SD card. The phone is powered with MediaTek chipset Dimensity 7300. Most of the techies thought the phone would be powered with a 7200 chip. Because the 7200 chip is more powerful than the 7300.
While coming to gaming the performance was good enough but not superb. But playing for a while we can notice lag and heat from the mobile. On the day to day basis using the phone for social media and other apps doesn’t feel slow or lag.
Speaker:
The phone only has the mono speaker, which is the biggest downgrade for the nothing. But the speaker quality is quite good within the budget of the phone.
Camera:
When it comes to the camera segment it is pretty much good in this segment of smartphones. I didn’t expect the phone will be able to click amazing pictures. I have seen many YouTubers clicking pictures from their phone. Which is good and amazing for that budget.
The phone has 2 cameras one is the main camera and another one is just an assist camera. The second camera only helps to click amazing blur in portrait mode.
The video recording of the phone is simply amazing. Even without an OIS the video quality was superb and there was no disturbance. But there is no camera for Zoom.
When it comes to the selfie camera which is okay seems to be the same as all regular budget phones.
My suggestion about the camera is we shouldn’t compare these images with any top-end phone. While picking up the phone in this budget. CMF clicks amazing images.
Design of the Nothing CMF:
As look into the phone the back side of the phone is just a panel that can be removed using screws. And also back panels can be changed easily. The design appears cool and new for the world. But there are some other benefits that I thought of this back panel design. When we open the back panel, there will be direct access to the phone’s internal parts. Which makes the repair easy and may also sound less than other phones.
Due to this design system, we do not need to use a case to protect the phone. As the back panel can be changed easily we switch when we damage. Rather than buying the cases, it’s better to be with the original ones as the design is new to the world. While coming to the cost of the back panels of the phone is low when compared to other phone back panels. These CMF back panels each cost you around Rs1.5K.
The color options for the phone are orange, black, light green, and blue. While the light green and black back panels are just a plastic finish. And the Orange and blue are vegan leather. The back and light green cane easily showcase the scratches. While orange and blue give you a better grip and are scratch-free.
Customization of Nothing CMF:
This phone can be easily customized by anyone who buys all the cases. We can swap the sim trays and knobs. And also the screws, for some of the cases it is steel and for some with the color of the panel. So we can customize the things as we like.
The phone comes with an amazing phone stand, as we see now which is placed on the down right corner of the back panel. There need not be any sticky stands. The feel of the stand will be 100% perfect in any direction that you want to place because the stand is made for only that particular phone.
As the phone is not a wireless chargeable phone, we cannot directly keep the magnet on the back panel. We need to screw up the CMF walled enclosure which is of magnet. This enclosure holds up your wallet. The wallet can hold up to 3 cards which may be okay to buy if you want.
Other features of the phone:
The phone only comes with the IPX2 protection. This includes only a little water protection and there is no dust protection. As per the phone design that they have made, this will be the maximum rating. Because we know the phone is not fully sealed.
As per my opinion the phone has delivered its best and justified its brand name “CMF” color, material and finish. For me color of the phone and finish of the phone is good enough. While coming to the material of the phone is quite good in this segment of the budget.
