North Sentinel Island the last land of powerful indigenous people.

North Sentinel Island is the most mysterious island in the entire world. The people live over there called as the Sentinelese they typically live like early man which we have studied in our social studies. But why has the island become mysterious because of the things that happened over there.

Recently, someone caught a YouTuber coming from that island. He has arrested for doing so. If the police conclude that he met anyone there, a judge will sentence him to 8 years in jail. The island is the most isolated land in the world.

Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov carried a coconut, coke can and go pro. He visited them and whistled there to tell them someone was there to meet. Fortunately, no Sentinelese people have come out for his whistle. Unfortunately, he left coconut and coke can there returned to Port Blair.

But a fisherman over their had seen this Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov returning from sentinel island and complained to police. Which led to the arrest of the YouTubers within 48 hours. He has the chance of 8 years jail because of visiting them.

Before we why 8 years of jail visiting the island, we need to know clearly about the island. Let us dive deep into history.

What is North Sentinel Island:

This island is located near to Andaman Nicobar Islands, it is located exactly 35KM to the west of port Blair, the capital of Andaman.  Someone found Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov, an American YouTuber, returning from that island. The local fishermen have noticed the thing and complained to police. The police arrested him in no time.

He has sent to interrogation about his visit to the island. I hope most people think that is not even a crime. Visiting any other place in the world may not be a crime (North Korea is excluded), but the Indian government/authorities punish those who visit this island. We need to know the thousand years of history about the island and why it protected us from visiting.

History of the Sentinelese in North Sentinel Island:

The Sentinelese are the people who live over North Sentinel Island are called. These are the world’s last untouched people with the outside world. They even now live in stone age, they hunt to survive, they even do not know how to harvest. Many islands are home to Aboriginals, and on all of them, the Aboriginals maintain connections to early life and people. They are slowly getting converted to the fast life and normal people.

But Sentinelese especially isolated from some thousands of years. All other Aboriginals migrated to different parts of the world. We can see Aboriginal in Australia too. But especially Sentinelese do not have direct contact with land which may make them stick to the place. That may be the reason some hundreds of people have been staying there from thousands of years.

As I have mentioned they are living as hunter gathers, which means they depend on hunting to live. They just eat nuts, roots, honey, and hunt animals for food. They do not know about any type of harvesting too. Sentinelese have their own language which we cannot understand, it is like the social studies book all of us have studied in our childhood days.

Their fear of outside world in North Sentinel Island:

The Sentinelese are very much feared about the outside people. They are some recorded statements of the travelers. In 900CE a Chinese people are written people over Andaman Nicobar Island are very much dangerous they kill and eat humans. In the 500CE sailors across the world have also mentioned this as same.

I think most people could not believe it because the prods are from the past. But we have some documented recorded evidence of this island. So, the naval officer with a small army visited them, they were feared of seeing such a huge crowd, they rant to save their lives. But unfortunately, the British had caught six members of the tribe

They had been brought back to India, and the naval officer thought he was giving them a new and better life. In those six members there were two elder couples and four children. With in no time contacting to the new people the elder couple died in some days without any reason.

Seeing these officers had feared that children may die and left them back to the island. It is a good sign for everyone, but there may be a hidden story behind it.

Why couple died in North Sentinel Island:

There is one reason for their death that is they are not ready for the outside world. How many of you deal with health issues when our regular climate had changed. Or else when you visit a new place how many of you face colds and fever. We people habituated with the life of pollution and all other minor diseases. But these Sentinelese people are isolated from thousands of years, which means they have not known about many diseases which we encounter in our daily world. Their cells and antibodies which fight against small diseases are weak. Which makes them more sensitive to all kinds of diseases.

Even if we cough near them, they get disease, because our body is quite different than them. So, they are so delicate as newborn babies even the older people are so delicate to our world.

The pollution, food and environment present in our world is quite different and dangerous to them. Because their antibodies are not ready to fight against the foreign cells. Normal people meeting them is too risky for us and to them also. They are unique and need to be protected. That is why Indian government after the independence has made a rule to not to visit them. Visiting them is a punishable offence.

About the returned children in North Sentinel Island:

We do not have any recorded evidence about them, but the Britishers have left them back. But these Sentinelese are possessive about themselves because outside people kills us through diseases. I think they have seen a series of deaths when outsiders contacted them. This may make them too strict to oppose any outsider.

They may have killed those four children because they were contact with outsider. If this does not happen to those four children, then most of the people over there will fall ill due to outside contact. Their bodies are so weak that they ca easily fall ill when contacted with others.

India’s moves to protect North Sentinel Island:

After independence of India, government of India interested to contact the people over there. In the year 1967 TN. Pandit an anthropologist with some police and navy officers tried to reach them out. They have brought some gifts to them, such as coconuts and a pig. They wanted to know their behavior. Pandit and their team and have kept the things are over there and went far to watch them.

As expected, they attacked the pig, coconuts, and clothes and buried them. And they even tried to attack Pandit and team. They have returned after this attack. In 1974 a film crew reached the island, they took some toys and other things to make them comfortable. But they had attacked them, the director of the film got hurt in attack. They have named the documentary as “Man in search of Man.”

Their first development:

In 1981, MV Primos cargo ships sailing over the route unfortunately got stuck very near North Sentinel Island. The ship stuck in the rough sea parts near the island. But the positive thing is that there were no passengers in that ship.

They captain immediately send distress signals to seek help from anyone. But during this period, they have tried to attack them with bows and arrows. ONGC had reached them through helicopter and rescued the crew of the ship.

The anthropologist Pandit has not lost any hope to contact them. For their first time he had taken a woman in his crew to visit the island. The lady was Dr. Madhumala Chattopadhyay, who was in the crew and visited the North Sentinel Island. But something different happened this time.

The Sentinelese people had become so welcomed to this crew. May be due to the lady first time they have seen, whatever may be the reason, but they were so welcoming. They also spent some time with them, the land had interacted with children and people too. They also have taken things such as coconuts and other things.

After this they have also went once again, to meet them. They got the same response with welcoming nature and soft behaviors, but this had the last noted to good response from them.

The weird response after the meeting:

After 1991 meet, Indian government and anthropologists again tried to contact them. But all after that year they were not at all welcoming, they started to harm the people. It was such a mysterious response from them.

But there may be some reasons for their response. In 1991 people went, touched them, and spent time with them outside. They have also taken the things which we took to them. But there would be chances they might catch with diseases, or some ne may be died after meeting outside people.

As we know they are very delicate to the outer environment. There are high chances that they could fall ill or even die when they get contact with us. We also do not know about their population.

As we see in the book of roots, the parents mentioned their traces of life. Same things may happen with this tribe. They might be live up not to accept outside people at any cost. Their four fathers had said them about not accepting outside world and its consequences. This had to be the reason for not accepting the world.

Insertion of not accepting us is due to their life changing movements whenever they meet outside people. They may get ill every time they meet people. And, they may think, outsiders would take away our lives and place. But a strong reason is health.

After these serial acts Indian government with anthropologists has decided to protect them from outside people. Indian government brought The Andaman and Nicobar Island Aboriginal tribals act 1956. This act had brought to protects Aboriginal tribes present in north sentinel island. Any person around the world contacting them is a punishable offence. This will risk their life and people who visited life too. The recent incident before Mykhailo Viktorovych Polyakov met was in 2018.

Story of John Allen Chau:

John Alen Chau is a Christian missionary who propagandas Christianity. He came to know about the island like there is no religion and language to them. Even though he was aware about the danger but dared to visit them in 2018.

He went Andaman and rented boat and fisher man. And visited the North Sentinel Island, fisherman was reluctant to got island. So, he brought his own kayaking boat and went over there. He carried, go pro, football, some fishes and bible.

But they did not welcome them, they tried to attack him. He escaped and landed another part of the island. Kids present over them were welcoming so he slowly landed there and began to give them gifts. But unfortunately, he missed his kayaking boat, but he stayed their reading bible. But people from inside the forest seen him and tried to attack him.

Bible saved him from the bow, he ran and swim to the boat of fisherman. At first, he decided to return to his country because people were dangerous.

But a strange thing happened. On 16^th November 2018 he had wrote a letter to his parents, mentioned that he may not return home but feel proud of him. Because he is going leave his life while spreading Christianity.

Taking the same fisherman he again went to the island. What happened in the island during his visit was not a recorded evidence because, he has not returned. But the fisherman who was went with said that he had seen that john was killed and buried there.He recognized him with his clothes. This was the saddest ending ever recorded with this island.

North Sentinel need to be protected:

So with these sequential events and Indian government thought that these people are unique to the world and must be protected. That is the reason why they have brought some laws against the people enter over the North Sentinel Island. Our Indian is always a step ahead to protect anyone at any cost.
