In recent times in India, we have seen the biggest surge in the telecom prices of India. All the market giants have surged their prices at higher rates. Jio, Airtel, and VI 3 have increased their base prices. The prices were shocking. The base price of any of the companies’ plans was around Rs.300. For middle-class people this has become a bigger burden on their monthly financial budget. Fms BSNL has the clear path for their bounce back into market. Also lets know about the downfall of BSNL and raise of BSNL in recent times.
Entry of JIO:
I remember the past years such as 2014, there were days when only a few MB of data was sufficient for an entire day. But also, the prices of the tariff are quite high which is unnoticeable for a daily wage worker managing a phone. as Jio has entered the telecom market which is Reliance. Mukesh Ambani made his strategy for the people of India.
Till the entry of Jio, the people’s main objectives were around food, clothing, and housing. As she entered and made the internet free for the Jio users. Eventually, all people were trying to buy a smartphone on their budget and experience the Internet and its uses of it.
At first, Jio entered the brains of India as it was free for people. They were stood on their word and given the internet for almost free. Later, the plans for the Internet increased slowly.
People are habituated to the internet services and usage of social media. All the people were ready to buy the internet with money and use it in daily life. There comes the 4G into our lives which made the internet more costly than before.
The usage of the internet has increased as the speed of the internet has increased. Now 5G is in the market everyone around India has a smartphone. Jio is the largest telecom provider in India.
Due to COVID-19 and many other reasons (whatever it may be), people were habituated to mobile phones and internet in such a way that. Food, clothing, and shelter are important now the internet is added to the list.
This was created by all telecom companies giving the plans at almost no cost. This made people habituated. The moment when people are deep into it, they have been raising the tariff prices.
Price of tariff:
First, in the month of July Jio, Airtel and VI increased their tariff rates to the sky. Due to the heavy surge in the prices, the three giants have gained their value up to 50,000cr.
In the past most people’s first sim was BSNL, and my parents even knew it was BSNL. But due to the attractive offers from other companies, all were shifted.
For the past 15 days in X (Twitter), a viral trend has been going on by seeing the prices of tariffs. #isupportbsnl and #porttobsnl.
Story of FMS BSNL:
BSNL was the most used telecom company in the olden days. Every person may use BSNL in their lifetime once. The Indian market was captured by the BSNL in the past.
As per the recent reports many sims are ported to BSNL. But the sad part is that BSNL does not offer 5G and even 4G is not available all around the country. But BSNL has a complete chance to become the leader of the telecom market.
BNSL (Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited) is a 100% government of India company. BSNL was founded in October 2000 by the Government. It is simple for the people of India to be connected at an affordable cost. At the launch of BSNL, no noted private companies were ruling the market. Those companies are only limited to cities and towns.
As BSNL was a government company it was spread around India. And I have mostly the remote places around my place that are connected only with BSNL rather than Jio or any other network.
Downfall of BSNL:
BSNL was a public services-based company. Until 2008 the market share of BSNL was 70%. Here comes the downfall of the company. As the BSNL was the major asset for the government of India, we all know India has the biggest corruption history every time. Politicians’ eyes were on the high-profit BSNL.
In the year 2007, Dayanidhi Maran was the telecom minister of India. He was under CBI after a few years due to some fraud in telecom. As the investigation went further, CBI discovered that the Minister had 330 high-speed internet connections placed only in his house.
You may think what can he do with that high-speed internet? He used this high-speed internet to run his own SUN networks. He used all the public internet to just run his own SUN networks and co.
After this, A raja became the minister of Telecom and he made the biggest 2G fraud in India, as per sources he was involved directly in a 1.7 Lakhs crores fraud. He just sold the spectrums of BSNL which are built for the wireless services to all Indian people.
FMS BSNL frauds:
As the frauds were allegedly coming from BSNL CBI was totally into the BSNL. They have found that all the tenders for the works in BSNL are just from the suitcase companies, which means the companies are just present in papers but not in reality. These companies just take the tenders and never work for it. Even though they will not have any employees to work. But the legal papers, show hundreds of Employees in the company.
Most of the MNCs were rejected in the tender selection because of the internal politics to eat all the money. Most of the higher officials of BSNL just were in their interests. Due to the internal issues of BSNL private companies have an effortless way to capture the market. Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea have slowly established their names in the market.
In the year of 2008, BSNL decided to procure 93 million GSM lines all over India. If this were to happen, BSNL would stand as the world’s biggest telecom company. This project was worth $10 Billion. It was huge money. But unfortunately, people in BSNL and politicians have also made corruption out of this.
Even though there were funds to expand the services all around India, the corruption across the company has made it almost impossible. Also, private companies have established their mark all over India which reduced the chances of BSNL to survive.
Employees backstabbed FMS BSNL:
We all know that FMS BSNL is a central government company we all know and see in daily life how government job holders behave in negligence towards the work. Have you ever visited the State Bank of India in the time of lunch? How rude do they behave with customers? Yeah, here in BSNL also the employees have become rude and negligent. Even if they improve or not, they will pay with salary on the first of every month. That is the reason employees were not ready to work more.
Let us take a real-time example to explain the situation. All are keeping JIO fiber net in their houses, but my friend has seen the godspeed of BSNL Fiber net. And he wanted to keep it. He was roaming for the connection for 3 days but there was no initiative taken towards it. But when I thought of keeping JIO fiber, I was able to get it within one day of the approach. People prefer the fastest work and a good approach.
JIO mastermind:
In the year 2016 Reliance Telecom introduced JIO under Mukesh Ambani. As the JIO entered the telecom all other competitors had no option other than shutting down their business. Jio produced the plan of free internet for dogs who take their sim. They were the first people to launch unlimited voice calls at a lower price. Before Jio there was the talk time recharge for the phone calls. Also, the Internet was introduced free till a certain GB.
Jio has provided directly 4G for free for their customers. As Jio was offering 4G BSNL was just with 2G and some cities were powered with 3G. Due to Jio’s entry Tata Docomo, and Aircel were shut down and Vodafone and Idea were merged due to their huge losses and named VI. Only Airtel was sustained in a small amount.
Due to private companies, BSNL has lost their average revenue per person also. BSNL was not able to make the money to salary their employees also. And recently I have seen during the purchase of the 5G spectrums. BSNL was given the leftover spectrums after all the private companies bought them.
Who lost due to BSNL:
Most of them think after reading this article that the loss of BSNL is a loss for the government. But it is wrong. The main affected due to loss of BSNL is people living in India as per my thought. BSNL is a public company run by the government. Public companies never see the extra revenues and provide affordable services to people.
But we see private companies sell their services at higher rates. In this present market, BSNL is one of the key leaders in private companies. Then the prices of the tariffs would not be this much higher. Because always BSNL provides it at lower rates. By seeing BSNL gain new customers private companies come with similar prices matching BSNL. This makes people afford any company’s plans per their requirements.
But as BSNL was not there in the market, the tariffs of telecom were raised. Even the government was bagging VI with loans to not make a duopoly of the telecom market. VI is there to regulate the price. If a market becomes a duopoly there would be higher prices than we would believe. Even though VI helps to reduce prices at the end of the day it is also a private company that looks after the profits of the company.
Most of the telecom companies have been eliminated in this race. Jio is king with 40% of the market, later Airtel with 33% market, and VI with 10- 15% market. The control of prices in full range starts only when BSNL enters the market again.
BSNL bounce back:
As per the scenarios happening, there are certain chances for the BSNL to bounce back. In recent times the government has backed BSNL with funds to bring back the BSNL. Also, TCS is the supplier and installer of FMS BSNL 4G services across India.
As we all know all other companies are rolling out their 5G services slowly, but BSNL is just left over at 4G. But with the support of TCS, they are claiming that 2025 or 2026 will be the year of the launch of 5G in FMS BSNL telecom. This launch would change India. The complete project of 4G and 5G services are under TCS company.
Also, we all Tata Sons Group have purchased the 5G spectrum for their industrial usage.
Also in the past few years, FMS BSNL has forced their old employees and recorded employees to take volunteer retirement. This made BSNL cut off some employees’ count burden on their heads. Due to the cutoff of old and stubborn employees, the company was only left with the young ones. Young employees will be ready to work rather than old employees. This can improve the efficiency of work.
Heavy Tariffs:
As I mentioned in the first lines of the content, we have seen a trend to port to BSNL. That will be one of the main reasons for the growth of BSNL. People all over India prefer for the low priced and good serviced company. As we all know BSNL provides services at lower prices. As per the reports after the rise of tariffs by Jio, Airtel, and VI most people from Jio ported their sims to BSNL. BSNL had a slight surge in their customer count.
For example, the cost of the BSNL pack for daily 2GB data of 4G for 30 days is 199. And the same plan for the Jio is 349 which is almost double. In most places due to heavy usage of the internet, I have faced problems with Jio Internet and calling services.
Personal experience with FMS BSNL:
There was a real situation with Jio for me. Those were the days of the launch of Jio in 2016. All my friend’s phones were switched to Jio sims as they provide internet for almost free and mine was on BSNL. In those times we used to use our parent’s mobiles so far.
And the day was 2016 December 31st night. We were at one of our friend’s houses chilling out with movies and food. As the years passed, all decided to call friends and parents to wish for the new year. I have called my brothers and sister through my BSNL sim. But I have seen all my friends struggling to connect the call. At last, they took my sim for their calls and made their wishes.
Those times were the heavy calling times, and it did not work. These types of examples are present all over India till now.
Anything in this world will not get for free, you are served for free they are expecting something from you in the future. As we have seen, companies serve you for free and know they hiked their prices.
