Most people the scenes in Pushpa are only able to do in movies. But how many of you know Pushpa is an inspiration of real-life story. Koose Muniswamy Veerappan the king of forest. He ruled the MM hills and styamangalam forests for over 3 decades. Police were afraid to think about him. He created such a fear in the police due to the sequence of events.
Veerappan the real Pushpa story:
Veerappan is an animal and red sandalwood smuggler. He was born on January 18th, 1952, in Gopinatham village near Coimbatore. He was born in an extremely poor and backward caste. From childhood his survival was very difficult. Such a type of huge poverty led to illegal money earning roots.
He learnt peaching (hunt animals for their skin). He started this thing from his teens and killed many animals for peaching. This killing of animals leads to person killing. Veerappan killed a person who opposed him of peaching. Veerappan was born a shooter with extreme shooting skills. He joined a gang and extended his journey of killing elephants for teeth.
Red sandalwood smuggling journey as Pushpa:
After joining Salvai Gounder Gang Veerappan has also entered Red Sandalwood smuggling. Keralal, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu border gold for Red Sandalwood.
Nilgiris to Dharmapuri is the huge area for Red Sandalwood. Veerappan lived in that forest and made it his kingdom. As Veerappan was born in a forest area, which made him easy escape from police in forests. He built his forest empior in such a way that no one could enter the forest without his permission.

Tiger Ashok Kumar:
Ashok kumar was the office in-charge joined in special task force which formed to catch Veerappan. His records are greater than film heroes’. He received three gold medals from president of India. These achievements gave him the name Tiger Ashok Kumar.
But even tiger was not able to catch Veerappan or kill him. Veerappan is more wildfire than Pushpa.
Brutal murder of police:
Later, after tiger failure have appointed P. Srinivas as assistant commissioner to the special task force. His always want to make Veerappan to be surrendered rather than killing him. As he made plans with villages to get close to Veerappan. He helped villagers by constructing houses, medical services, and other necessary supplies.
All these things he had done with his own money. These things made Veerappan to directly call Srinivas. He stated that he wanted to surrender and called him alone to the forest. Without any hesitation he went into the forest alone.
Veerappan killed him. There are some theories that Srinivas was in love with Veerappan’s sister. This led to his murder. 3 years later Srinivas’ head was found without body up to know there was no body found.
Multi state special task force:
Polce murder made both states seriously think about Veerappan. Shankar Badri and Sanjay Arora have been appointed as special task heads. Karnataka and Tamil Nadu created this special task force.
Special task force has killed Veerappan’s right hand gurunatham. SI Sahil Ahmed played a key role in killing him. Veerappan as a reaction attacked a police station and killed all police officer took way arms and ammunition.

Veerappan is not a flower he is wildfire. As soon as the bus reached Surakkamaduvu. The buses which police were travelling very flying high. Veerappan had set land mines because he knew their route of arrival.

30th July 2000 night 9:30 in Tamil Nadu Veerappan had kidnapped a person and took him to forest. Next day morning by hearing the news all Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were in high alert. All the Tamil Nadu offices and properties present in Bangalore were burning with fire and broken with stones. This thing made a person’s death. Bangalore went into 144 sections.
Veerappan had kidnapped Karnataka’s star hero Dr. Rajkumar. He is praised equal to Amitabh Bhachan in Bollywood. He is the father of Late. Puneeth Rajkumar and shiva Raj Kumar. The kidnap of film star has become hot topic.
While in negotiations Veerappan demanded for his state rather than personal. He demanded to solve Cauvery water dispute. Make Tamil as second language in Karnataka and release political prisoners in Tamil Nadu.
All the demands he expressed are difficult to solve. So, he asked 1,000 crores to release Dr. Raj Kumar. All these negotiations are done through Nakkeeran magazine editor. He used to go inside the forest to talk with Veerappan.
At last, the government has given fifteen crores of amount to release Dr. Raj Kumar. He treated Raj Kumar sir very well and doctors used to visit in frequent intervals to check his health condition. After 105 days he was released.
A major down fall:
After kidnapping Dr. Raj Kumar Veerappan also kidnapped Karnataka former minister H. Nagapa. After about one hundred days his body was found in cowdappa village. During all these kidnaps Veerappan gang was reduced due to many reasons. Their gang strength came 150 to 40.
Operation Cocoon:
A special task force has launched operation cocoon to capture Veerappan. This operation is commanded by K. Vijay Kumar and N.K Senthamarai Kannan. This operation of catching or killing Veerappan was designed about 10 months. The execution took a couple of weeks. But the final operation took place in just 45 minutes.
Veerappan has come out of forest due to his eye problem. Special task force has setup a police officer in Veerappan gang silently. This spy has made Veerappan go by an ambulance which is under control police. Almost forty police men engaged in this operation.
They surrounded the bus and demanded he surrender. But Veerappan refused to do so and started to attack them back. Which led to a brutal shootout. Where Veerappan died in this encounter.
Veerappan’s intelligence:
The commander of operation cocoon only stated that Veerappan is a great intelligent person who can do wonders. He is an amazing commander and courageous fighter. But all these good things were used in the wrong way. He also praised his ability as commander was great. Veerappan led a gang for many years which shows his commanding skills.
